2009 December Holidays Part 2

On the fourth day of the Honk Kong trip, our tour group went to Madame Tussauds,a wax museum. When we entered the museum we were amazed by a wax celebrity which looked realistic.
We entered the level where there a lot of celebrities and famous people from all over the world like Jackie Chan,Barack Obama and even Albert Einstein!WOW!(my first reaction)There is also the once popular band the-Beatles.Although they are made out of wax, they looked like real ones!
My brother was fascinated by the sports section. Therefore,he took the action golf on the carpet grass and started posing like he is playing golf.My father took a picture of my brother with his camera and we proceeded to the next section.
After seeing the Hong Kong Television celebrities,we walked to another section to see the wax model of Albert Einstein and also, our country's very own forefather,Mr Lee Kuan Yew!He is well-known worldwide because of his great contributions to Singapore which helped in Singapore's development. He is the pride of our country and every Singaporean respects him.
Leaving the museum, our tour group travelled to a vegetarian restaurant and enjoyed a scrumptious lunch.Even though we are not vegetarians, the food tasted nice and we enjoyed the meal very much.
The last day of the trip came and we had a great deal of fun on that day.We rode on the Ngong Ping cable car-the 5.7km cable car journey( a must go!)We waited a long time for our turn and we were sooooo excited and jumping with joy when we boarded the cable car.It was drizzling and we kept shivering with cold.Luckily for us, we can have a scenic view of mountains and greeneries as it was not raining too heavily.Sadly after the cable car ride,it was time for us to go home. We took a short ride to the airport.
Upon reaching the Hong Kong airport,we waved goodbye to our tourguide and checked in.Afterwards,we felt hungry and saw a stall selling roasted char siew and chicken rice inside the airport.Of course we cannot miss the roasted char siew rice as it is Hong Kong's famous delicacy. We ordered some and ate quickly as we did not want to miss the flight.
While preparing to take the flight home,I felt both sad and jubilant.I was sad as I had so much fun in Hong Kong but I could not bear to leave.I felt jubilant as I am going home! Finally,we reached the Singapore airport at midnight, and went home. *HOME SWEET HOME*

2009 December Holidays Part 1

I had a memorable experience during my first time boarding on an airplane and going to Hong Kong with my grandmother, parents and brother.
A week before,my family was busy packing our clothings and necessary items into our very large luggages.
The night before my long-awaited day,I was too excited that I could not sleep. My family was excited too as they too have not gone to Hong Kong before. Finally the day came!
My father hired a special taxi which was rather big in size and when our family went into the taxi,we could even watch a movie on our way to the airport! The taxi driver had extremely good manners and my family was pleased.
In no time,we reached the airport and the taxi driver helped us with our luggages. We checked in the airport next, sat down and rested while waiting for the morning flight. We were delayed for a few hours for the flight and it was reported that the engines of the plane was faulty. My brother and I kept grumbling while waiting at the T3 airport.By the time we were finally allowed to go for the flight and leave for Hong Kong,it was evening and everybody was deeply frustrated. We had missed hours of fun all because of the delayed flight!
During the flight,I slept as I was TOO tired. When we reached Hong Kong,we noticed that our poor tour guide looked tired. We guessed that she had been waiting for the tour group for hours in the airport until the tour group reached Hong Kong.
At night,we had seafood dinner and it was fresh and delicious!
The next day,we went to Hong Kong's famous Ocean Theme Park, where ther are interesting performances and games like the ferris wheel and large Bunjee Jump.It even has a panda enclosure! As we have never seen pandas before,we were eager to see it and went into the enclosure.Unfortunately, a panda was sleeping with it's back turning towards us and another was nowhere to be found.
After visiting the pandas enlosure,we went to ride on a cable car and it travelled over small hills and finally to our destination to the ferris wheel. My mother, brother and I rode on it and when we reached the top, it was FREEZING COLD.We then went back to the hotel  by riding the World's Longest Escalator set in the Guiness World Record.I was so delighted!
I have been waiting for this day as today will be a fun-filled day as I am finally going to The HONG KONG DISNEYLAND!YAY!:)At first,I went to the Buzz Lightyear shooting game, which was really fun and we even had a Buzz Lightyear western lunch.
Secondly,we went to the It's a Wonderful World boat ride with dolls singing on the platforms and it lightens up my spirit.Thirdly,we went to the Golden Mickeys Show which was absolutely fantastic! Finally,we had our dinner and watched the very beautiful fireworks. We got to wear a special spectacle as when I wore it the fireworks becomes snowflakes. It was truly an unforgettable day!

A cooking experience

I have a wonderful experience when I was in Primary School doing a project.
Last year, when I was in my Primary School days,I had an Art project and I grouped with my friends,Joy and Tricia. We were first instructed to do a research on spices. We found out an interesting fact that even spices, can be very useful as it can be used as medicines, cosmetics, perfumery or eaten as vegetables!;)
Secondly,we plan out a recipe. We chose a dish called Tom Yam Seafood Soup. The reason for our choice is because many of our friends cooked curry and we wanted to outstand them by cooking another dish and thought that this dish was rather appetizing.
Next,we went to a FairPrice supermarket near Joy's house. We used our shopping list and bought ingredients. We walked around the supermarket, bought fresh abalone mushrooms, straw mushrooms, baby corn and prawns. As the supermarket did not have some of the ingredients we have planned to buy,we went to a nearby wet market. It is within a stone's throw and we reached the wet market in no time and bought lime, lemon grass and The ONE and ONLY,CHILLI PADI!(I need WATER!~its real hot!~)
Then,we cooked the dish using spices of all sorts, like curry leaves, lemon grass, pepper and many more!Joy's Mum(A Great Cook) helped us with it and I am really grateful for her kindness for inviting us to their house. We sliced the vegetables and mushrooms, processed the prawns and cooked the dish according to the recipe. An aroma of spices was distinctly smelt when the dish was cooked.Sounds delicious?Talking about the dish makes my mouth WAter~~~~~.
Finally,we gave the Art teacher and our friends to taste it!When I tasted another friend's dish,I was bewildered by her culinary skills as her French Bread with basil cream was a real hit!SO DELICIOUS!SO YUMMY!I felt proud of my dish too as some of my friends and the teacher commented that it was nice and had a good mixture of spices.
This experience had not only taught me on some cooking,it also helped me in realising that in order to do a group project well we also need Peseverance,Patience and most importantly Teamwork!:)
